Price benchmarking

PRICE BENCHMARKING
Are you paying too much? We check what you pay against the market, grade by grade and city by city.

You know what you pay. You do not know what everyone else pays, but your supplier does, and that gap in knowledge usually shows up in the price.

We close it. We take your purchase records and set them against our daily market prices, grade by grade, month by month and city by city, and show the difference in rupees and per cent. There is no national average in the comparison: a price paid in one city is checked against that city.

Then we show where the gap comes from. Some of it is usually timing, buying just after a move rather than before it. Some is grade mix, freight or credit terms. What is left is simply price, and that is the part worth taking back to your supplier.

What we compare against
Ten years of daily prices across 376 products, 7,601 grades and 200 markets and locations, collected every working day from buyers, sellers and traders and checked at our desk in New Delhi.

What you get
Your purchases set against the market, the difference and its causes, market ranges for similar volumes and credit terms, key contacts at alternative suppliers, and a short brief your team can take into the next negotiation.

Confidentiality, both ways
Other buyers’ prices appear only as market ranges, never as named deals. Your purchase data is used for your study alone; we do not keep it afterwards or use it in any price assessment. Nothing a source has told our price desk in confidence is passed to you.

The study takes three to four weeks from the day we receive your purchase data: date, grade, volume, price, location and credit terms for the grades under review.

  •  Your purchase history set against our price series, grade by grade

  •  Our market ranges for similar volumes and credit terms, anonymised
  •  A negotiating brief, with the price series attached

Time
Three to four weeks from receipt of your purchase data.
