Domestic demand has expanded at a CAGR of about 17%. Current consumption stands at the level of 30,000 metric tons per annum. Therefore a large chunk of the market is dependent on imports. Major sourcing nations include Taiwan, South Africa and China.
There has been double digit growth for both MEK and Secondary Butyl Alcohol (SBA) over the last decade. The growth has been driven by a strong demand from paints and coatings, aroma chemicals, printing inks, adhesives coatings, specialty intermediates in pharmaceutical industry and lube additives.
