The Hormuz disruption hammered naphtha-dependent Japan, South Korea and Vietnam into plant cuts and shutdowns - but China, on diversified Russian crude, ethane and coal routes, barely flinched. With non-Middle-East naphtha still ~30% costlier, the war handed China's already cheap chemicals an even bigger structural edge.
