Despite IEX clearing prices shooting past Rs 10/kWh during peak evening slots, over half of India’s private gas plants stood idle in May.

Is the issue a lack of fuel, or is gas power simply priced out of the market?

Clearly, India's gas fleet is being bypassed at peak hour. Whether it's inflexible PPAs, expensive fuel, or system-level misalignment, the result is the same: stranded assets in a market that claims to reward flexibility.
