Ranjit Rath: Over enthusiastic? – 13 Feb 2025

This website likes OIL CMD Ranjit Rath. We also appreciate with some irony however how he likes posing before cameras when he meets the press. He likes the attention on himself. No doubt, he has all the dynamism and aplomb needed to keep Oil India Ltd, otherwise a sleepy organization ensconced in a lazy little town in Assam, on its feet.

The one thing about him is that he is always full of ideas. He is experimenting with gas storage in old fields in Upper Assam and he is also trying to get a carbon capture and storage project going. Also, he is pushing ahead, despite obstacles, with his offshore projects. He also happens to be the only company pushing for not one but three 3000 HP rigs for work in the North East, digging at depths of 6000 feet or drilling several kilometers horizontally to reach hydrocarbon reserves

The problem however with Rath is that he gets carried away by his own enthusiasm.

And he promises much more than he can actually deliver. And in Oil India, all the Assamese offiers who surround him are too polite to tell him so.

Let's tell you how he does puts his foot in his mouth every now and then. All with good itensions however.
