GAIL refocuses on pipeline infrastructure again – 23 Jul 2024

One of the main reasons why GAIL wants to diversify away from its main job, that of gas transportation, is because it makes enough money and there is not enough pipelines to build

So it gets into highly competitive segments like petrochemicals, where IRRs are very low pressured by the likes of RIL, or into areas such as E&P and now of course green hydrogen and new energy.

Pipelines are also expensive to build and demand follows the building of infrastructure.

But the company is now changing its thinking a little bit, as gas demand can go up and India still needs a lot of pipeline infrastrucutre
