Offshore wind in India: What is the status? – 15 Mar 2023

The offshore wind indusry was meant to give the much needed impetus to the offshore E&P vendor base, particularly for marine spreads

In June 2022, the MNRE notified a cumulative 37 GW offshore wind seabed lease tender trajectory for 2022-2030 and aims to add 30 GW of offshore wind installed capacity in the times ahead.

But tenders so far have gone unawarded

Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have agreed to purchase offshore wind power generated off their respective coasts at a tariff of Rs 4 per unit for initial projects.

But clearly that is not turning out to be enough
