MDF maintains growth but the margin may decline – 27 Feb 2023

Domestic Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) consumption climbed dramatically in FY21 and FY22, and this trend is expected to continue in the current fiscal year at a CAGR of nearly 15%. With new capacity coming up in FY24 and high imports in the current fiscal year, profitability margins are likely to fall in the short to medium term, falling by 400-500 basis points from recent highs but remaining solid.
