A severe acid shortage at Tata Steel's Port Talbot – 20 Feb 2023

As energy prices skyrocketed in reaction to the Ukrainian conflict, UK industrial acid output has dropped by as much as 70-80 per cent. Manufacturing at Tata Steel's Port Talbot plant in the United Kingdom is being hampered by a scarcity of locally manufactured hydrochloric acid, which is needed in the pickling and annealing processes.
