Entrepreneur Purnendu Chatterjee of the Chatterjee Group is planning to acquire a controlling stake in MCC PTA India (MCPI) from Japanese major Mitsubishi.

Chatterjee wants to add more clout to his enterprise after turning around Bengal's showpiece project Haldia Petrochemicals.
