A total of 100 million tonnes of sugar cane bagasse is produced per annum in India.

Current use of bagasse is mostly restricted to cogeneration of steam and power, however considering its potential, cogeneration is not the best valorisation route

Bio-refineries is where the future lies, of generating revenues in a sustainable manner
