Following the producer price hikes last week, demand for the LDPE and LLDPE materials moderated in the major polymer markets in India, as traders said. Many LDPE and LLDPE end-users also said that demand for their end-products also weakened slightly. The twin effects of mounting raw material prices and weakening demand for finished products led buyers to procure the polymers in accordance to their immediate production needs, abstaining from bulk purchases.

A Mumbai-based LLDPE price manufacturer told Indianpetrochem," We are avoiding bulk LLDPE purchases these days, the outlook for the raw material price is uncertain."

And, an LDPE Film manufacturer in the city also articulated a similar situation.

Speaking to several LDPE and LLDPE item manufacturers in various manufacturing hubs in India, it was learnt that most buyers preferred to source the raw materials from the domestic markets, and affinity for procuring the polymers from overseas markets was also learnt to be low.

In the Mumbai market today, LDPE and LLDPE prices were sold at around Rs 127-129 a kg and Rs 121-123 a kg respectively.
