PVC off-takes in Indian markets continue to remain dull on pipe sales failing to gain momentum – 11 Feb 2014

Feb 11, 2014

Demand for PVC resin in India has continued to remain sluggish due to sales of pipes, made of the Vinyl-based material, failing to gain momentum. PVC pipe buyers have restricted themselves from purchasing the pipes as the costs have gone up significantly due to rising raw material prices. PVC prices have remained at considerably high rates in the country's polymer markets, after moving up after producers hiking their ex-work prices, responding to rising international prices. Currently, PVC is sold in the major polymer markets in the country at around Rs 84-86 per kg.

International PVC prices have been rising on account of prices of the key feedstocks--EDC and VCM--going up. Prices of the feedstocks have been going up due to Ethylene prices going up on supply issues.

Observation on the demand pattern indicates that it is going to remain inactive at least for the next few days.
