Long duration utility scale energy storage is now the new buzz word and a fascinating array of new technologies are on the anvil, each more promising than the other

There are now mechanical, thermal, chemical and electrochemical solutions available, and many solutions within these sub-categories

And the number of long duration storage projects is rising rapidly

Further, all of this will have to be scaled up very rapidly over the next few years as costs decline

The projection is that long duration storage will have comparable investment returns to other energy technologies within the next four years
