India’s pledge at COP26 to make the country net zero by 2070 could enhance natural gas role as a transition fuel

India would boost renewable capacity to 500 GW by 2030 from about 150 GW today, or half the power mix

But as renewable capacity utilization is around 18%-20% and it is not available around the clock

Gas could become the fuel of choice for base load generation and to stabilize the grid until enough storage is in place
