HDPE off-takes strengthen in Indian markets; No notable price fluctuation reported – 22 Apr 2014

HDPE prices have not undergone any notable fluctuation in the major polymer markets in India, but, demand conditions have improved, as traders said. Some Mumbai-based end-users said that they were considering the option of stocking the HDPE raw material inventory even at the current prices. In the context of the prevailing market trends in respect to the HDPE material, a Mumbai-based trader commented," HDPE purchases have strengthened, but there has been no movement in the prices."  However, in the Kolkata and Chennai markets, PE stocks were less on account of non-receipt of fresh supplies from domestic producers. 
 

In the Chennai market, stocks of HDPE (BM), LDPE (Film) and LLDPE (Film, IM) were less, while, stocks of the LLDPE(Film) material was short in the Kolkata market, according to traders in the respective markets.
 

In the Mumbai market today, a trader quoted the prices of HDPE (HM) at Rs 121-123 a kg; HDPE (BM) at Rs 122-123 a kg; HDPE (IM) at Rs 118-120 per metric tonne; HDPE (Raffia) at Rs 120-121 a kg.
