IPA shortage lifts the price in Indian markets – 28 Apr 2014
Apr 28, 2014
Shortage of IPA has resulted in price of the chemical going up significantly in Indian chemical markets. The shortage, caused by delayed arrival of import cargoes, has lifted the price in the country's markets from Rs 98 a kg to Rs 112 a kg. Domestic supplies of the chemical are also restricted with Deepak Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited's IPA plant being in the shut-down state, for carrying out maintenance.
Demand conditions in the country's markets in respect to the chemical also have been active, and the stocks that are available with traders are rapidly lessening.
Some traders in the Mumbai market revealed to the website that consignments of imports of the chemical are expected to reach Indian shores in May 2014. This clearly indicates that buyers of the chemical cannot expect any moderation in the price upto then.
While the prices have spiked considerable over a short duration, most buyers have curtailed their purchases at the moment.
"These prices are too unrealistic for us to buy the chemical. As it is Deepak Fertilizer is expected to resume operations within a short duration, which will bring down the prices. Hence, we have stopped our purchases at the moment", a buyer informed the website.
