Phenol demand to rise substantially in India – 9 May 2014

Demand for Phenol in the major chemical markets in India is moderate to strong, with market participants expecting further strengthening of demand as the rainy season has set in the country. A Mumbai-based trader told Indianpetrochem," Demand for Phenol is moderate here, but it is strong in the northern region of the country due to large number of plywood manufacturers there, who are the major consumers of Phenol."
 

According to some market participants, demand for Phenol will rise substantially before full-fledged rainy season, as plywood manufacturers normally try to finish their products before the rainy days.
 

The prevailing bulk price of Phenol is at around Rs 103-104 per kg (exclusive of taxes).
