Curtailed manufacturing of predominant end-industries, especially air-conditioners, refrigerators; have resulted in demand for the PS material losing strength in India. And, the demand conditions also indicate that price of the polymer is not going to go up in the near future. A Delhi-based trader told Indianpetrochem," Demand for PS is not strong as most end-users are curtailing their production rates due to shortage of workers." He quoted the price of the GPPS material (of Styrolution) at Rs 133 a kg.
The Ahmedabad market also sustained moderate demand conditions in respect to the polymer, according to traders contacted. A trader in that market said that he expected no upward movement in the price as there was no indication of the demand conditions to strengthen. He quoted the price of the GPPS material, of BASF, at Rs 135 a kg.
In the Ludhiana market, shortage of the GPPS material was also reported today. GPPS, of LG, was sold in that market at around Rs 134 a kg.
