Sliding Styrene price fails to invigorate demand in Indian markets – 22 Sep 2014
Sep 22, 2014
Slipping Styrene price has failed to activate demand in Indian markets as buyers are refraining themselves from procuring the chemical in bulk quantities due to uncertainty in future demand outlook. Contrary to the normal trend, in which, demand for the chemical strengthens during this season, the demand this year has followed a reverse trend, influenced by uncertainties caused by fluctuations in the price in international markets.
Traders in the major markets told Indianpetrochem that the major off-takes of the chemical were from the resin and paint industries. They also expected that price of the chemical not to go down any further.
The prevailing import booking price of the chemical is at $1,520-1,540 per metric tonne CFR India.
