HDPE (Monofilament) price stays high in Indian markets on strong demand – 7 Oct 2014

Demand for the HDPE (Monofilament Yarn) material has been strong in Indian markets as production of nets is going on in full swing in the various manufacturing hubs in the country. However, buyers in some markets are confronting with shortage of the material due to which the price stayed high.

A net manufacturer in the Gujarat state said that he purchased the material at around Rs 130 a kg, and his purchases were regular.

A market participant in Tamil Nadu said that net manufacturers were confronting acute shortage of the raw material due to non-receipt of domestic supply, and the price escalated to more than Rs 131 a kg as a result. He also said that the domestic manufacturers deliberately restricted the supply to create the shortage situation, to maintain the price at high rate, although prices of feedstock were going down in international markets.
