Polymer demand plunges in the country amid of downward price revision – 20 Nov 2014

Traders in the major market in the country thus continued to see lackluster demand condition. Demand for the Commodity polymers and Styrene based polymer was observed unsatisfactory from the few months as the inactive buying was observe in the market and price for the respective polymer falls in the market as the price of the principle feedstock- Ethylene and Styrene was moving southward in the key Asian region. Ample stocks are available in the market with the traders but the buyers are not purchasing the material after giving discounts.

A trader based in Ahmedabad market told the website in the context that of the prevailing market condition,"There is no improvement in the demand in the market even after the recent producer price cut, I am hopeful of demand strengthen in the near future." Some other traders adopted a wait and watch mode in the prospect of producers in the country further lower polymer price in the next price revision.

Price for the PVC was quoted at Rs 78 a kg while Price for the ABS was assessed at Rs 155 a kg.

Open market price for the GPPS and HIPS was quoted at Rs 123 and Rs 127 a kg.
