DOP prices fell in the Indian market amid low demand and off season – 8 Dec 2014

The Demand for Di-octylphthtalate(DOP) is moderate while the Plasticizer prices following downward trend across various trading hubs in India. Indianpetrochem.com gathered information from traders and manufacturers to understand the market driving force of DOP. . An official from Rachna Plasticizers, domestic manufacturers of DOP cited the website, “Demand is neither high nor too low for DOP in the market and we are not going to cot-off our DOP stocks. DOP stocks available with Rachna Plasticizer is around 80 metric tonne per day while the current consumption is around 50 metric tonne per day.”
Rachna Plasticizer quoted their DOP price as Rs.93.5-94 per kg (Ex-factory price) which was a consecutive depreciation of around Rs.8-10 per kg in the last few weeks. DOP and DBP are majorly used as plasticizers in PVC resins for fabricating flexible vinyl products. The websites spoke to our end-user industry contacts (mainly PVC resins manufacturers) and assimilated that the demand for PVC resins is sluggish at the moment and it isn't expected to gain weight until the manufacturing sectors like automobiles, adhesive, etc pick up pace in the trading hubs and till the crude oil price stablizes
Delhi and Ahmedabad based traders informed that the demand for DOP is dull at the moment and there is a general market expectation that the demand will most likely gain momentum by the end of February. Until then, buyers are adopting a need based procurement strategy for the chemical.
The enduring PVC price is Rs 73-74 per kg which decline around Rs 7-8 per kg within one month.
