Regular off-takes and Supply gap shoot up Acetone prices in Indian market. – 17 Dec 2014

Acetone prices jumped up sharply in the trading hours this afternoon. The reason assimilated behind this sudden increase was deficit supply of the chemical in market. A source from Mumbai Market confirmed the website, “ Ex-Mumbai price of Acetone rose by Rs. 7-8 per kg to Rs 73 per kg, price increased due to regular off-takes and shortage in supply of the chemical.”
He further told the website there is around 1500MT Acetone available at the Mumbai port but the requirement of the Acetone is around 3500-4000MT to suffice the demand, next shipment of the chemical will arrive in 15-20 days but also not in enough quantity.
An official from SI group told the website, “ SI group increases its Acetone price by Rs. 7 per kg to Rs 75 per kg due to import price parity and good off-takes from various industries such as Pharma, resins and pedilite industries.”
SI group releasing around 1600-1700 per metric tonne in this month to cater totheir end users. Prevailing booking price of the chemical is around Rs. 850-860 per metric tonne.
