Week demand continues to perish the acetone market – 19 Jan 2015

Jan 19, 2015

Crude Oil dwindling doesn’t seem to end any soon. With raw material prices being highly volatile, the prices of the downstream petrochemicals and chemicals have suffered the worst. Products with niche market segments like Acetone have impressions of the same depressing story. The demand for acetone is weak to moderate in the domestic market.

Fewer inventories were reported to be available at the ports. Apparently there was no stock available at the Kandla port. Though, about 3000 MT of material was informed to be available at the Mumbai port. Booking price has been decreasing exponentially the last quotation for the chemical was about $ 820 per MT.

An official from SI group inform the website, “Due to poor demand of the Acetone and Phenol earlier which forced us to shut down the plant of the chemical, still persists". Plant may be resumed after January 2015 only.

An importer from the Mumbai market told the website, “Demand of the acetone remain same in the market and there is low stock available at the port.”

A source from HOCL told the website, “We have enough stocks available to cater the market.”

HOCL’s quote for Acetone price is Rs.69 per kg as of today.
