Surge in COVID: Is crude vessel waiting creeping up? – 14 Apr 2021

The scheduling of crude cargoes to Indian refineries takes place months or weeks in advance
So the flow rates are secular until clear orders to given to hold or delay or streamline shipments
As per our as of yesterday data, the total quantum of crude imports into India is at a high level, at 6.54 million tonnes, that is more or less normal flow, through it was higher a couple of days earlier
But of interest now is that we are witnessing vessel waiting in some refineries
Veseel waiting can be for various reasons, and not necessarily because of COVID related issues
