LNG market in India: Volatility exposes weakness – 22 Jan 2021

LNG imports have slowed down quite a bit and some of the terminals are now working at zero or much lower capacity.

This signals a large dependency of the Indian market on floating spot cargoes.

While a healthy spot content in the overall market is good for the market depth, it remains a moot point however whether the Indian market, with all its market imperfections and monopoly players and in the absence of enabling regulations is suitable at all for this kind of volatility.
