Sky high LNG spot prices: Will RIL find refuge in its ethane cargoes? – 11 Jan 2021

Jan 11, 2021

RIL currently has around 1.64 lakh tonnes of chemical imports lined up

It is not known whether RIL procures LNG on a term basis, for it doesn't and if it depends on spot prices, its ethane shipments from the US will become really handy at this juncture. Two shipments are landing up ahead.

Then again, now that the affiliate restriction on the buying of gas has been lifted, RIL, which in any case is the largest gas buyer in India, can end up also being the biggest buyer of gas from its KG Basin discoveries. Around 7 mmscmd of gas is being auctioned out in February by the RIL-BP duo.

And these imports come in at Dahej and Sikka and they consist of

Ethane

Benzene

Acetic Acid

Ethylene

Methanol

Paraxylene
