BPCL tests a new 200 KTPA naphthenic base-oil pathway at Kochi Refinery – 29 Sep 2026

BPCL is examining whether existing Kochi refinery streams can support a standalone 200 KTPA naphthenic base-oil facility.

The proposed slate stretches from de-aromatized solvents and printing ink oil to transformer-grade base oil, turning the exercise into more than a routine process study.

The critical question is whether Shell's modelling and pilot runs can establish a technically credible route to commercial deployment.
